I suggest to the party, quietly, out of earshot of the prisoners, that we keep them there for now until we can break their gems and know they can't be compelled to do anything nasty.
And that we interrogate the prisoner. I'll go good cop.

Galaidin, knowing what the cuff is supposed to do, may very well try to find the gems that were attached to their bracelets.

Braigwen, still mildly suspicious of her fellow captives, nods and begins to circle the prisoner, nudging him roughly with her foot. As she waits for it to awaken, she takes in her surroundings, mentally mapping out the area. This knowledge might become useful to her.

Galaidin begins to become suspicious of his new captive. "Where are you from? Why did we get put on the Galley? If we were indeed going to be slaves, who were we to be slaves for?"

"I'd answer him if I was you, you know. He's the scourge of all the nations, butcher of thousands. If you don't tell him what he wants to know I'll never be able to help you get out of this mess. Also, how do we remove the gems from the other prisoners? And what happens when we do?"

"I wouldn't go that extreme. Captive, my name is Galaidin, the Avenged One, and I'm an officer of Berwyk," Galaidin, a bit frustrated by now, allows himself to calm down and reassures his captive that he is trying to be polite.

The captive begins to speak, in broken common.
His eyes blacken as the pupils seem to swallow the entire eye. As the captive speaks in a hissing voice filled with a lisping hiss
"The Iron thrown rises that which was buried Has been freed from the halls of Tartarus New gods shall bleed on the alter of the ancient ones"
The now almost still corpse is smoldering, as small purple and green flames begin to escape from the ears and mouth of the captive...

Braigwen turns back to the dead captive, her senses heightened by the adrenaline in her veins. Never had she heard someone or someTHING speak of Tartarus so easily, and to further mention the death of the Gods had her chilled with fright. She steeled her emotions in the midst of her new companions, as she refused to show weakness.
"What he speaks, if true, could put us all in grave peril. What do you all make of it?"

Galaidin, unsure of the meaning behind what the now dead captive meant, takes a moment to let all of this sink in.
"Braigwen, I don't know exactly what this means, but it was said in the form of a riddle. But whatever this message means, is sure to be a bad situation either way."
Galaidin takes a piece of paper and writes down the riddle, saving it for a later time.
"Let's check the galley for anymore clues, if there are any to be found."

THE GEMS THE GEMS THE GEMS...
I have a bad feeling and am low on hitpoints, but I run over to the captives and try to break the gems with the pommel of my rapier. Call me a cynic.

You smash the first of the gems with the pommel and a bright blue glow seems to seep from the gemstone... You watch in wonder as small scratches and other wounds begin to heal as if by....magic Your own chains and shackles grow warmer

After the last skirmish with the captives and the capturers, he seems to be fatigued. Galaidin, seeing that the gems have healing powers, goes over Derick and has him break his gem. It feels good to be healed.

How are the other gems reacting?
Galaidin... if you were a bad bugger and wanted to steal peopleto fight in your devil army, would you have nice gems or naughty gems attached to your slaves? Help free these buggers before something horrible happens to these poor sods.
How warm is Delvin's shackle getting? Can I still 'free' some of these guys or am I taking damage?
Timothy, I think our gems were already broken.

it is starting to get warmer, not uncomfortably yet, but almost so.
As you continue to free the other conscripts from their gems you hear the tramp of hobnails on wood
from the ship arrows slam into the earth, a few prisoners taking minor wounds.
From the wrecked starboard bow you see 4 more of the Tieflings and a taller Reddish skinned Man with .. with WINGS?
